Support Teams Fielding Repetitive Questions
A large share of inbound customer contact was simple status and document questions that did not need a human agent to resolve, but still consumed support capacity.
Shippers and end customers routinely email or call support teams just to find out where a shipment is or what a delivery document says. We designed and built, from a blank slate, an MVP for a customer-facing AI assistant that answers these everyday questions directly, without waiting on a support queue.
When a shipment is delayed, missing a document, or simply in transit, the first instinct of most customers is to ask someone directly: where is it, when will it arrive, and what do I need to do next. Traditionally that means an email, a phone call, or a support ticket, each adding wait time on both sides.
This MVP gives customers a conversational assistant that understands shipment, delivery and document questions and responds immediately, using structured shipment information passed in from the client's own systems, so customers get useful answers without needing a human on the other end.
A large share of inbound customer contact was simple status and document questions that did not need a human agent to resolve, but still consumed support capacity.
Shipment, delivery and document information existed internally, but customers had no direct, conversational way to reach it themselves.
There was no existing assistant or chat interface to build on, so the experience, scope and underlying logic needed to be defined and built from the ground up.
A conversational assistant focused squarely on the questions end customers actually ask about their own shipments.
Customers can ask where a shipment currently is and get a plain-language answer instead of searching a tracking portal or waiting for a reply.
Customers get clear answers about expected delivery windows, helping them plan receiving without contacting support.
Customers can ask about invoices, proof of delivery and other shipment documents and be guided to the right one directly.
General questions about logistics services and processes are answered consistently, reducing repetitive explanation work for staff.
Customers can ask a follow-up question in the same conversation rather than restarting their inquiry from scratch each time.
When a question falls outside what the assistant can resolve, customers are pointed toward the right support channel instead of a dead end.
We mapped the most common shipment, delivery and document questions customers actually ask, based on the client's own support patterns.
We defined a focused MVP conversation scope that covered the highest-value questions first, deferring lower-priority edge cases.
We designed conversational flows and fallback behavior so the assistant stays clear and honest about what it can and cannot answer.
The assistant was connected to structured shipment and document data so its answers reflect real, current information.
The MVP was released as a customer-facing entry point ready to handle real shipment inquiries and gather usage feedback.
Start with the questions customers already ask, not the ones a product team imagines they might ask.
A chat-style interface was built to handle natural shipment, delivery and document questions from end customers.
The assistant reads from structured shipment and document data supplied by the client's own systems rather than guessing.
Clear fallback logic routes unresolved questions toward the appropriate human support channel instead of an unhelpful dead end.

Answer the question directly. Free the support team for what actually needs them.
This assistant did not begin as a modification of an existing support tool — it was scoped and built as a new, focused product aimed squarely at the questions customers ask most. The result is an MVP that gives end customers a direct channel while giving support teams room to focus on harder cases.
"Build the assistant around the exact questions your customers already ask, not a general-purpose chatbot they'll have to learn how to use.
