Why does current adoption rate affect the score?
An action almost everyone already does can't be redesigned around for more impact, and one almost nobody does may be too hard to reach. A moderate current adoption rate (around 40-70%) is the sweet spot where redesigning onboarding around it can move the most users.
Is retention lift the same as causation?
No — this measures correlation, not proven causation. A high-scoring action is a strong hypothesis to test with an onboarding redesign or experiment, not a guaranteed cause of retention.
