Frequently asked questions
Why does listing alternatives matter?
A decision with no recorded alternatives looks arbitrary in six months. Listing what else was considered shows the choice was deliberate, not a default.
What if a decision truly had no alternatives worth considering?
Note that explicitly (e.g. "no viable alternative") rather than leaving it blank — the log should show the reasoning was considered, even if the field was narrow.
Is an "opinion" decision automatically wrong?
No — many early decisions have to be opinion-based. The score just flags them so you know where to prioritize follow-up validation.
Can I export this log for future reference?
Copy the generated summary into your own documentation tool — this is a scoring and structuring pass, not a persistent database.
