How it works

1

Add your planned features

Enter each feature with a name and a category, then rate its impact (user value) and effort (dev time) on a 1–5 scale.

2

Let the matrix sort them

The tool places every feature on the Impact/Effort matrix: high impact + low effort are Quick Wins, high impact + high effort are Major Projects, low impact + low effort are Fill-Ins, and low impact + high effort are Avoid for MVP.

3

Build the Quick Wins first

Ship the Quick Wins, schedule Major Projects deliberately, treat Fill-Ins as spare-capacity work, and defer the Avoid-for-MVP list to a later version.

Frequently asked questions

How is the priority score calculated?

Score = impact × 4 − effort + 1, so a feature with high impact and low effort scores highest. It is a quick ranking signal, not a substitute for judgement about dependencies, risk and sequencing.

What do the four buckets mean?

Quick Wins: high impact, low effort — do these first. Major Projects: high impact, high effort — plan them in. Fill-Ins: low impact, low effort — do them only when you have spare time. Avoid for MVP: low impact, high effort — skip these and revisit for v2.

Where is the impact / effort cutoff?

A rating of 4 or 5 counts as "high"; 1 to 3 counts as "low". A feature rated impact 3 / effort 3 therefore lands in a low/low bucket, not the middle.

Can I get my list out of the tool?

Yes. Use Export to copy the prioritized list (with bucket, impact, effort and score) as CSV or Markdown to paste into your backlog, spec or planning doc.
