Frequently asked questions
Does Tool Cost Radar track pricing automatically?
No. It does not have live access to any platform's current pricing, usage limits, or credits — you must look up and enter these figures yourself. The tool only computes an efficiency score from what you provide, and results are only as current as your inputs.
Why does under-using a plan count against the score?
Paying for a large allotment of credits you rarely use is a form of waste, even without overage fees. The efficiency score treats both significant under-use and overage as inefficient, with the sweet spot being usage close to (but not over) the included limit.
What if my platform doesn't have a credit-based pricing model?
Enter your closest equivalent (e.g. requests, generations, or seat-hours) as the credit unit, or set credits included and used to the same value to focus purely on the seat-cost comparison.
How often should I re-run this?
Whenever the vendor changes pricing or your usage pattern shifts meaningfully — since this tool doesn't monitor either automatically, stale inputs will produce a stale result.
