Enter your key actions and their click counts
For up to three important actions, enter how many clicks or taps it takes to reach each one from your home or start screen, plus your acceptable threshold.

For up to three important actions, enter how many clicks or taps it takes to reach each one from your home or start screen, plus your acceptable threshold.
Each action's click count is compared to your threshold. The score degrades based on how far over threshold your deepest actions are, averaged across all actions.
Every action exceeding your threshold is listed with exactly how many clicks over it is, ranked deepest first.

No. Click Depth computes a score entirely from the click counts you enter for each action — it does not crawl, click through, or analyze a live app, and does not run any AI/LLM step.
Most MVP teams target 3 clicks or fewer for any action a user needs regularly. A one-off, rarely-used action can tolerate more depth than a core, frequent one — set your threshold to match how often the action gets used.
Click Depth measures the raw number of clicks to reach any one of several important actions from your home screen, checked against a single threshold. Task Path instead compares the ideal minimum number of steps against the actual current number of steps for one specific task, to measure how much excess exists in that one flow. Use Click Depth to audit reachability across several actions; use Task Path to diagnose inefficiency within one task.
Look for menu items that can be promoted higher in the navigation, redundant confirmation screens that can be removed, or an alternate shortcut (a search bar, a quick-action button) that bypasses the deep path entirely.
Not necessarily — it means at least one important action is buried deeper than your own stated threshold. Use it as a prioritized punch list, not a verdict on the whole app.

Maze captures real click-tracking data from actual test sessions, and UXPressia maps full customer journeys across personas. Click Depth is a much faster, structural check you can run yourself before either — no live users needed to flag an obviously over-deep action.
