How it works

1

Enter your container's milestone data

Add days since departure, expected transit time, days awaiting customs clearance, typical customs duration for the lane, and days cleared and awaiting pickup.

2

We identify the current bottleneck milestone

The tool checks each milestone in sequence — transit, customs, pickup — and flags the earliest incomplete stage that is running over its expected duration.

3

Get an estimated availability date and on-schedule score

The result stacks the remaining time in each unfinished stage into a single estimated-days-to-availability figure, plus a score showing how on-track the container is overall.

Frequently asked questions

How is ContainerETA different from a general shipment-ETA calculator?

A general ETA calculator adjusts a single transit estimate using traffic and carrier-reliability factors. ContainerETA instead consolidates multiple distinct milestone events for one container — departed origin, in-transit, arrived port, customs cleared, available for pickup — and identifies which specific milestone is the current bottleneck, which a single adjusted-ETA figure can't show.

Does ContainerETA track my actual container via GPS or carrier APIs?

No. ContainerETA computes results only from the milestone durations you enter — it does not connect to any carrier tracking system, port system, or live GPS feed.

What if my container hasn't reached the port yet?

Leave the customs and pickup fields at 0 — the tool will treat the container as still in the transit milestone and estimate the remaining days based on your expected transit time.

Where do I get "typical customs duration" for my lane?

Use your broker's historical average for that specific port and commodity type, or your own past shipment records on the same lane — this varies significantly by port and cargo type.

Can I use this for multiple containers in the same shipment?

Run the calculator separately for each container, since different containers on the same vessel can clear customs or become available for pickup at different times.
