This is the standard simplified LTV formula, assuming a constant monthly churn rate. It's a reasonable MVP-stage approximation, though real customer cohorts rarely churn at a perfectly constant rate.
3:1 or higher is a commonly cited healthy benchmark, meaning a customer is worth at least three times what it costs to acquire them. Below 1:1 means you're losing money on every customer.
Gross margin is more accurate since it accounts for the cost of serving each customer. Using raw revenue overstates LTV, especially for support- or infrastructure-heavy products.
