Every research sprint should exist to answer one specific decision — the plan keeps that question visible throughout the schedule instead of drifting into general exploration.
Each activity type has a typical duration (interviews 3 days, a fake-door test 2 days, a paid pre-sale test 4 days) based on common MVP research timelines, so the schedule is grounded rather than aspirational.
The tool totals your chosen activities against your available sprint days and flags immediately whether the plan fits or needs to be trimmed.
They reflect typical minimum durations for reliable results — for example a fake-door test needs at least a couple of days of traffic to be meaningful, not a few hours.
Cut the activity least connected to your core decision question, or extend the sprint by the overage shown — do not compress every activity equally, since some (like pre-sale tests) need minimum time to produce real signal.
The schedule shown is sequential for clarity. If you have separate people running different activities, activities can overlap — just make sure synthesis still happens after all evidence is in.
2–4 is typical. More than that usually means the sprint has lost focus on a single decision.
Feed your findings into the Validation Decision Memo to turn the evidence into a go, refine, pause, or pivot recommendation.
