Units on hand divided by daily sales rate gives actual days of supply, which is compared against your threshold to find excess days.

Run this calculator per SKU or per SKU group with similar sales velocity, or use blended averages across a representative group entered as the SKU count.
How is "days of supply" calculated?
Days of supply is units on hand divided by average daily sales rate — a standard inventory-planning measure of how long current stock will last at the current sell-through pace.
What does the overstock-severity score mean?
It scales how far your actual days of supply exceeds your threshold, capped at 100. A higher score means a larger share of your target buffer is being exceeded.
Is the tied-up capital figure exact?
It is a genuine calculation (excess units × average unit cost) based on the numbers you provide, but it will only be as accurate as your inputs — verify with your own inventory records for decisions.
