Why does adherence rate change the calculation?
If a patient takes fewer doses than prescribed, their remaining supply lasts longer than the prescribed schedule would suggest, so adherence-adjusted daily use gives a more accurate days-of-supply estimate than assuming perfect adherence.
What should the safety buffer be?
It depends on how disruptive missing a dose would be for that medication — a few days is common for most maintenance medications, but use your own clinical or pharmacy guidance for anything time-sensitive.
Does this tool actually send the reminder to the patient?
No. It only calculates the timing — you still need to trigger the reminder through your existing messaging or care workflow.
Does this account for dose changes mid-supply?
