SERIALIZATION TRACEABILITY COVERAGE

SerialFlow

Enter your serialized-unit count and which of the 6 lifecycle stages have tracking scans defined to get a traceability coverage score and see exactly which stages are missing.

  • Uses your inputs in a transparent calculation
  • Instant result with practical next steps

Planning guidance only. Validate important decisions with customer evidence and your delivery team.

How it works

1

Enter your serialized-unit count and stage coverage

Add your total serialized-unit count, then mark yes/no for whether each of 6 lifecycle stages — receiving, putaway, transfer, sale, delivery, return — has a tracking scan defined.

2

We calculate a traceability coverage score

Coverage score is the number of stages with scans defined divided by 6, expressed as a percentage.

3

Get a verdict and the exact missing stages

The result names which specific stages have no tracking coverage, so you know precisely where the traceability gap is.

Frequently asked questions

Does SerialFlow connect to my live scanning or serialization system?

No. SerialFlow computes only from the yes/no answers and unit count you enter — it does not connect to live scanning, barcode, or serialization-tracking systems. It is a self-assessment calculator, not a live monitoring tool.

What counts as a "tracking scan defined" for a stage?

Any point where a serial number is captured and logged against that lifecycle event — a barcode/RFID scan, a manual serial entry, or an automated system record all count.

Why only 6 lifecycle stages?

Receiving, putaway, transfer, sale, delivery, and return cover the standard end-to-end custody chain for a serialized unit in most supply chains — enough to spot the biggest visibility gaps without over-complicating the input.

Is 100% coverage always necessary?

Not always — it depends on your regulatory and warranty requirements. High-value, recalled, or regulated goods typically need full coverage; lower-risk goods may tolerate partial gaps.

How is the coverage score calculated?

It is simply (number of stages with a scan defined ÷ 6) × 100 — a plain percentage, with no weighting or hidden adjustment.
