It's a well-established market research method (developed by Peter van Westendorp in 1976) that asks respondents four questions about price perception, then finds where the resulting cumulative response curves intersect to define an acceptable price range.
Use an aggregate — typically the median response across your survey sample for each of the four questions. A single respondent's raw answers are too noisy to produce a meaningful range.
The method assumes too cheap ≤ bargain ≤ expensive ≤ too expensive. If your medians don't follow that order, check your survey data or consider whether your sample has highly polarized price perceptions.
Treat it as a strong anchor, not a guarantee. It's the price where equal proportions of your sample see it as too cheap and too expensive — validate it further with a real purchase or pre-order test before committing.
